EAP counselling service improves anxiety by two thirds: Towergate

Depressive symptoms showed average improvement of 60%

New data from Towergate Health & Protection has found that one of its employee assistance programme (EAP) providers has experienced an average improvement of 61% in anxiety scores after counselling.

Professional medical diagnostic questionnaires are used by the EAP at the beginning and end of each structured therapy course, Towergate detailed, as this scores an employee's level of anxiety and/or depression. According to generalised anxiety disorder (GAD-7) questionnaires, anxiety levels, including feelings of being on edge, fear, restlessness, and worry, were in the ‘moderate' to ‘severe' classification prior to structured therapy, although these dropped to the ‘mild' classification after counselling.
